SETTING: Specify TCP/IP Port Range

This option instructs RockSolid to audit the instance and determine if the current TCP port in use by SQL Server falls within one of the ranges specified in this setting.  Multiple ranges can be added, with any range matching the current port configured for the target instance(s) resulting in compliance.  Ports that do not fall in any range will cause a compliance alert to be raised for the relevant instance(s).

If you wish to specify a single TCP port for use by SQL Server, enter the same port number in both the "Port Start Range" and "Port End Range" boxes then add to the policy.

Example - SQL server TCP port to either be port 1433 or in the range of 49816-49870 inclusive.
