SETTING: Protocol TCP

This setting instructs RockSolid to check the configured state of the SQL Server TCP network protocol for the relevant SQL Server instance(s).  If the configured state differs from that specified in the policy, RockSolid will raise a compliance alert.

Additional sub-settings that can applied to the TCP protocol setting include:

  • Listen on All IPs - This instructs RockSolid to audit if the target SQL Server instance(s) are configured to listen on all IP addresses configured for an OSE host.  If not, then a compliance alert will be raised.
  • Dynamic Port - This instructs RockSolid to audit if the target SQL Server instance(s) are configured to use a dynamic TCP port.  If this is set to Enabled then RockSolid will check to ensure the target instances(s) are configured to use a dynamic port.  If set to Disabled then RockSolid will check to ensure the target instances(s) are configured to used a fixed IP port.  You may also wish to specify the IP Port range with the "Specify TCP/IP Port Range" setting also.

Example - SQL Server listening on all IPs using a fixed port configuration.
