HOW TO: Edit a RockSolid Calendar Definition

Calendar's in RockSolid control the many different aspects of the RockSolid application, from job scheduling to alerting and compliance monitoring.  Calendar's in RockSolid are a hierarchy that extend from the service provider level, through the instance group, site, instance and finally database levels.  For more information on the calendar hierarchy see here.

Editing a Calendar Definition

To edit a calendar definition perform the following steps.

  • First, navigate to the relevant level in the calendar hierarchy. Either Service Provider, Instance Group, Site, Instance or Database levels.  All levels apparent from the Database level will be inherited by child objects of those levels, so you should be aware that your changes may impact a number of databases.
  • Click on the Calendar tab to view the calendar definition.
  • If the selected level in the hierarchy currently inherits from a higher level calendar, this will be shown and RockSolid will highlight the level at which the calendar is being inherited from, as shown in the graphic below.

  • To override the parent level calendar and create a specific calendar at this level, click the "Edit Calendar Definition" button.  This will duplicate the parent level calendar to the current level as a starting point for the custom calendar.
  • Once you have done this you are ready to customize your calendar definition for this level.
